Server Rules
Please take a moment to read the rules. We think most responsible players wouldn’t break these rules without even knowing what they are. However it is YOUR responsibility to know the rules. If you break them, you have a very good chance of being banned.
If a member of a squad breaks the rules the whole squad can be banned for breaching the same rule. It is your responsibility to make sure you and the people you play with understand the rules.
DayZ Server Servers 1 & 2
- Don’t hack
- We come from many different countries but we all speak ENGLISH in chat so everyone understands. You can be kicked or banned for repeatedly speaking in other languages in chat. You may think this is unfair but it is necessary to avoid isolating other community members and most importantly to enable the admins to do their job.
- Modifying your game files to attempt to do things like remove grass or rock models is still cheating and will be treated as such.
- No using exploits to gain entry or remove items from another players base. You can enter bases by removing walls using toolboxes or by parachute only.
- If you find a bug report it to an admin so they can fix it, if you are found to have exploited bugs for your own benefit without notifying admins you can be banned permanently.
- Tents placed in glitched locations (inside other items like rocks, buildings, under water etc) will be removed by admins. Use basebuilding to secure your tents, don’t abuse glitches.
- Do not base build in towns, cities, castles or blocking any vehicle/loot spawns. Check the location you wish to build a base with an admin if you are unsure
- Bases must be at least 1.5km from the shore and away from towns and regular map objects like buildings
- Do not mislead other players by changing your name
- No duplicating items. Bugs happen in DayZ and its up to you as a player not to take advantage of them. Report issues to the admins, wherever we can fix bugs, we do. You make the game unfair for everyone else when you take advantage of glitches.
- Don’t combat log – Combat logging does not just mean your combat timer. If you leaving the game benefits your character it is a combat log. You don’t logout after shooting someone. You don’t logout for zombies and especially you do not log out if you have been shot at or spotted by other players.
- No voice in side chat
- No killing players with basebuilding objects. Basebuilding is not a weapon!
- Excessively abusing camera glitches to see through walls is no different to wallhacking and you will be banned if you are observed abusing bugs like this repeatedly
- No whining about being killed over side chat. PVP is a huge part of DayZ if you don’t like it find a “PVE” server. Do not take your frustrations about dying out on others just because they shot you. The only inevitability in DayZ is your death.
- Do not be offensive, racist, annoying or generally spam side chat
- Do not give out the locations of other players bases in sidechat
- Respect the admins. We do this for fun and for free! It is not fun for us when people don’t show respect towards us or to the rules of the server when we enforce them.
- Have fun! (this rule isn’t usually bannable)
Where can I build a base?
I have listed some rough guidelines for basebuilding locations above. There are some caveats to remember.
– Attacking/Defending bases is great fun, but we DO NOT like people who camp inside their base and shoot unsuspecting people. The gameplay is terrible 3rd person camera will always reign supreme. For this reason your base should not be somewhere with an obvious line of sight to a loot location or vehicle spawn.
– Bases need to be at least 1.5km from the coast, this is to discourage people who spend all their time camping in coastal cities. Coastal campers are literally the worst players and basebuilding is not intended to help that play style.
-Always check a potential base location with one of the admins first, otherwise you may be asked to move your entire base.
What is Combat Logging?
Most players don’t struggle with this concept but we may all have our own definition of a “combat log”. So here is ZeroSurvivals:
Combat logging is logging out in a situation whereby logging out gives your character an advantage over staying in the game.
The combat timer concept was a nice try by the developers of the mod but it’s never been nearly sufficient enough. Countless situations occur in the mod where you will shoot at a player from a distance with a sniper rifle for instance and that player will hide in a secure location such as a building and then logout. If you are 700m from a player it is going to take you a minimum of 2.5 minutes to reach their location, there is nothing worse than a player who logs out on you whilst you are trying to do so. You do not need to hit a player with your bullets for us to class it as a combat log. If they are aware of your presence and they logout to prevent dying its a combat log to us. Certainly they are much easier for us to verify if you do shoot at a player though. Contact Seaweed via the forums or teamspeak if you encounter a combat logger.
We even have players who will logout to avoid zombies or when another player speaks to them in direct chat. There are literally countless different scenarios combat logging occurs, we punish zombie combat logging just as we do player combat logging. Unfortunately there are too many performance implications in the mod to leave a clone of your character in game whilst you logout. We wish there were but that is not the case. It is your responsibility as a player here to make sure you are not logging out in an advantageous situation. It doesn’t take too much thought, don’t logout for zombies and if you are shot at stay in game until the engagement has finished or a substantial amount of time has passed (5-10 minutes minimum). If you have to leave your pc for some reason let them kill you or kill yourself.
Combat logging on zerosurvival is punished as follows
1st Offence – Character killed and 24 hour ban
2nd Offence – Permaban
