Base layout

I'm not a bandit!
So we're just about to start putting a base together and are discussing the best layout to use. What have you guys opted for? I saw a post on here with a hexagonal layout that seemed like the best option for space.

I also have a couple of questions:

- How do booby traps work?

- If I move an object and it passes through a tent while still in "build mode" will this flatten the tent?

- Same as above, but if I hit a person with it.

- Craft with sandbag grenade and scrap metal, build it - CRAWL away. It explodes when someone stands within a certain range (usually close enough for a knockout often a kill from my testing)
- If someone crawls up to the booby trap they have a percentage chance to disarm it provided they have a toolbox
- Booby traps persist through restarts until exploded (i hope)

- Nope you can put a container on top of your tents and hide them that way it shouldn't harm them.

- Yeah you can kill fools by swinging objects at them, just like in wasteland

ooh, do you get the murder/bandit kill even if you're not online when it goes off? I may have to get creative if so.

your base is gunna be insecure if you can fit a vehicle inside. i can hover the little bird in the tightest of places so keep that in mind. secure your valuables separate from your vehicle area because i can get my grubby fingers in it. double up on everything...cuz somehow my compound was broken into in one day...2 containers. the odds of someone actually breaking in at a 95% failure rate + 70 sec at each attempt and 70% chance of losing their tool box is insanely low so either they got lucky or something is fucked with the base building mod and those percentages are inaccurate.

but go for a base + vault design. make your vault more secure than your vehicle walls. if someone gets your car, no big deal.

Thanks for the info. Although I've hit a major problem now as I cannot remove any of the containers anymore! When I go to remove them it doesn't see me as the creator and so gives the message about the failure rate. Have tried the pin codes to remove but these have never worked for me.

Had you died before you tried to remove them? You have to wait till after server restart if you have died because of an annoying bug :(

ah ok, I did die after a restart so that explains it. Thanks for the info, will have to wait for the next restart.
