That's all part of the new loot tables and loot spawning system as far as I know. We experienced a similar problem right after 1.7.7 was released.

Buildings themselves have a percentage chance to spawn loot lets use hospitals for example

So there is a 0.2 (20%) chance for any of the available loot points in a hospital to spawn loot - lootChance

Looks like 12 possible points, 20% of 12 is 2.4 loot points.

The hospital table has a (50%) chance of being used on any of the loot points, here are the details of that table

2.4 loot points on average spawning loot, with a 50% chance of it being junk loot or a 1% chance of a medbox. Should the hospital table get chosen there is a further 1% chance for antibiotics to spawn :(


That's not to say there isn't more at play here than that. They revamped the way loot spawns in 1.7.7, there is a time limit that must be reached for loot to respawn, and it won't do so if players are still in the area. These changes were made to prevent cycling but it does feel like all loot is rarer as a result. This could be as the devs intended or could be bugs in their code...

Was loot cycling ever actually a problem? It was only really possible to do on an empty server... doing it on a populated server was suicide as it made you a sitting duck. I could understand it being a problem if most of the servers used a shared character database (hive)... but don't most servers have their own private hive now anyway?

I wouldn't say it was a massive problem, mostly I hate it because I don't like finding tents and piles of junk loot at stores/military locations. It definitely detracts from the realism of the game for me, I would say I'm probably at a disadvantage to a loot cycler in terms of my ability to gear up. But I've shot so many people whilst they carelessly run back and forth to loot points oblivious to their surroundings it probably evens things up :lol:

By the sounds of it I should be able to fix the loot tables for the most part, including the loot respawn timer. It'll just take some trial and error :)

Working things on the test server (1.7.7.1)

- Debug monitor
- Base building
- Animated crash sites
- Self bloodbag
- Strip clothes
- Remove parts from vehicles
- Custom loot table, general loot spawn rate is higher (increased antibiotics and medical spawn rate so far but many changes are coming...)

Assuming there's no major problems reported tomorrow with that server I will be taking main server and merging it :) I can continue working on things from there. I am going to bring the bases but none of the tents from the old server.

I think I am just going to bring everyone's 1.7.6.1 character over to 1.7.7 with the exception of SFG who have been helping me test 1.7.7.1. I have already taken a copy of the bases so wait till the servers are merged (probably tonight) to continue building.

I need to clear the database out a bit an help server performance I am also only taking one base per clan. I am also not bringing across items built by players who haven't logged in recently.

Everyone's will be, thanks for reminding me about soldier skins though I will need to change them because they don't work on the new patch (think it was likely an ARMA patch that stopped your 1.7.6.1 skin working).

I will probably replace a few things with substitutions because I still want to evaluate my new loot tables, probably just DMR's and M24's which I will swap for SVD's or CZ550's.

Anyone holding a gun that isn't one of the "vanilla" weapons will find themselves with either a different gun or no gun also. So if you have a MK16/MK17 on 1.7.6.1 make sure you drop it for something else before tonight!

I also uncovered some interesting variables I can begin to play with once we are all playing on the same server again. These concern zombies and things like agro ranges, damage done per hit and maybe even the infection probabilities.

It's most important we get everyone playing under the current 1.7.7.1 server first though before I go changing things like that, this patch takes some adjusting. Constructive feedback from you guys is important to me, but to give this you need to put the time in on the new patch. My major gripes with it were always the availability of antibiotics and loot in general though and I have increased both of those things now.

We actually don't mind losing our base if it comes to it. (If we can keep it, great...if not, so be it)

To be honest if we do lose it, we will prob not build another big base. As it's taken 5 of us about 6 weeks to build the one we have. I just can't see us being able to rebuild a base in the 4-6 weeks that's prob left of the mod.

SA will be out by end of July in my opinion.

Not sure yet, our clan may well get a SA server, or we may play elsewhere (f Seaweed gets one). It's all Dependant on prices per slots/SA playability etc.

It may be a good few months after SA is released before the alpha is in a decent playable state. I would hope not, but i'm just being realistic/cautious.

i'll be hosting one as soon as the server files are available and provided we still have enough players and donations to keep this ship sailing. Hardware wise I think we should be fine to use the current box.

I read there's gonna be linux support for S/A I'm excited about migrating to a linux box but I'm guessing there will be a windows release I can host on launch day too.
